Crust Pizzeria Napoletana!

It was during several research and develop trips that longtime restaurateur Brian Artero and AJ Zapatos really gravitated towards the specialty type wood-fired pizza concepts that were really developing along the west coast. It was something that was not seen on Guam and they spent the next few years really studying and planning visiting restaurants in places like Dallas, LA, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.


Opened in late January of 2016, Crust Pizzeria Napoletana is not your typical pizzeria. Offering thin crust pizzas made from a specific type of flour that is imported from Italy. The tomatoes are also imported from a region in Naples, which has a very rich and volcanic soil…the end result- a great pizza sauce! And if that wasn’t enough….they are even doing hand pulled mozzarella at Crust as well as house made sausage. It’s all about using quality products and a fresh approach.

Artero cooks these pizzas in a wood-fired oven that was specially made by a family who has been making ovens for over three generations! The project took over four months to complete before it was finally shipped to Guam. The oven creates the perfect pizza—and I say perfect because I’m a sucker for thin crust with a chew! The oven gives the pizzas a beautiful char or what Artero refers to as ‘leopard-ing’ along the crust and offers a nice smoky almost bbq like taste.



If you are the pizza lovin’ kind….no worries, there is an array of appetizers like the popular Gigante Meatball on a bed of creamy polenta, pastas , sandwiches like the Braised Shortrib Hero (pictured), and salads offered. The pasta is made from the same type of flour that is used in the pizza crust and is made to order.




Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm. This is the perfect time to enjoy woodfired pizzas, cocktails, and beers at half off! Cocktails like the Naughty Naples which features a housemade Lemonchello- an Italian lemon liqueur produced in Southern Italy, mainly around the Gulf of Naples. Then there is my favorite the Santeria, which features a nice grenadine that is also made in-house. Crust has an extensive Whiskey Bar as well. Plus on Wednesday evenings, you can enjoy some musical entertainment along with your drinks and food.


Opinions and reviews have been mixed with Crust but I paid no mind to all that….wanting to try it for myself.  The result? I enjoy happy hour because it is a steal of a deal and the Naughty Naples are addicting…. I also love the Alba pizza which has an over easy egg in the center and is drizzled with truffle oil. So combine both and I am a happy camper!
